Our History
What was once a plain Irish scone recipe from nana's cookbook has been transformed into a new take on a classic favorite. Our scones quickly became loved for their fluffy + moist texture, and unique + delicious flavour combinations.
Our scones are made in small batches with love.
A timeline of our story:
- 2018: Dakota began experimenting with scone making, setting out to create the perfect pastry that ALL could enjoy! Not one with a sweet tooth, but still a dessert lover: she knew scones were her calling. She sought to prove the miscon(e)ceptions wrong, scones don't have to be dry + boring. She set out to reinvent the taste and texture with two things to prove: ANYTHING can be a scone + you can't break the rules when you make the rules.
- July 2019: Sweet + Savoured was officially born + on the books, only offering wholesale. Dakota was making hundreds of scones every week in her tiny apartment! It was a one woman show back in those days.
- November 2019: we had our first media feature on the cover of Patchogue Lifestyle magazine!
- 2020: we lost our wholesale market when most coffee shops shut down during the pandemic - so we started doing farmers markets instead! We met so many amazing customers and built a market family. We also introduced private orders and scone grams - which was a perfect pick me up when everyone was stuck at home!
- 2020: we did our part to create job opportunities for foodservice employees who were out of work due to COVID, and Alisha + Olivia temporarily joined the team!
- 2021: we were attending 4 different farmers markets a week all over Long Island, and making thousands of scones a month! Mary Jo + Madison became part of the crew - if you've had our scones you've probably bought them from one of these girls!
- 2022: we returned to our wholesale roots, and Sara joined the team! She's now our kitchen manager and official taste tester.
- 2024: Sweet and Savoured is back by popular demand! We are now reintroducing private orders for local delivery + pick up!
You can also find our scones at: Eastport General Store, Bellport Apothecary, The French Picnic in Cutchogue, and Island Dreams Coffee located at the Bayport Blue Point Library
Our Values
We use only high quality, real ingredients in our cottage bakery. We use local and organic ingredients when available - we love supporting our local farmers! Our scones are completely free of artificial flavours, preservatives, seed oils, and anything else we wouldn't feed our own families. If its not pronounceable, you won't find it in our scones!
We are family owned and operated.
We donate time, products, and profit annually to different foundations in our local community! In the past we have donated to: VIBS/SANE, Carroll's Kitchen, WellLife Network, Share the Harvest, Brookhaven Animal Shelter, FDNY, LIGALY and many other local foundations.
